Christmas Eve 2011

We spent Christmas this year in Arizona with our Hoover family.  The weather was of course wonderful and perfect the entire time.  We drove down since it was so much cheaper to drive all of us instead of flying.  The girls did really well in the car both down and back.  Kynna on the last day threw a fit when it was time to put her in her car seat, but she calmed down very quickly!!  We spent about 10 days down there and on the road.      We had a great time except when we all managed to catch the flu bug.  I of course had to have it on Christmas Eve, but it passed quickly.  Almost everyone was over on Christmas Eve for dinner.  We had Mexican food from a little place down the road that was very good.  And then we had the traditional reading of Twas the Night before Christmas by my mom.  Kynna went to bed pretty early since she was in total meltdown, so Jaylee opened her nammers and got the cookies and milk ready for Santa on her own.  So funny story about the cookies.  My mom had to show some property to a client that came in from out of state, so she left my sister Sarah and I to make some sugar cookies for the kids to decorate and for Santa.  Well she suggested that we double the recipe, however Say and I decided that she was off her rocker and that since the cookie cutters were big, that we need much more.  So we quadrupled the recipe and it was WAY to much.  We laughed so hard thinking that maybe mom really does know what she is talking about.  It was so funny!!  But we learned our lesson!!  Mom really does know her stuff!!!
We had made my parents their stockings a few years ago, so this year, since Aunt Say is living with them, we decided that she needed a great big stocking as well!!!

Showing off her huge stocking!!  She was setting it closer to the fireplace for Santa to see and hopefully fill for her!!

Dentist Check-ups

The girls had their dentist check-ups just before we left for Arizona and they both did wonderful!!  This was Kynna's first visit and she loved it!!  She only screamed once when they tried to take the toothbrush away to clean her teeth!!  They had to get another one to use because she wasn't letting that thing go!!!  They are both doing great with brushing their teeth and no cavities!!  Which is wonderful since I know my girls like the sweets a little to much!!!

Twins for a Day...

Jaylee and her cousin Hudson, decided that they wanted to wear the same dress to church one Sunday while Hudson was over for a sleepover.  They are so adorable and it was fun to see them all matchy matchy!!  It was super fun having Hudson over as well, we will have to do more sleepovers soon!!!

Santa Visits...

This year we only went to see Santa twice-far from the 7 times we saw him last year!!!  Once was at the Layton City Party and the other was at the Davis Hospital party!!  Both parties were fun and Jaylee really loved being able to see Santa and tell him all about how she wanted a rocking horse, even though when she wrote to Santa she told him she wanted an Easy Bake Oven.  MaKynna on the other hand only wanted the candy from Santa!!  She really did not enjoy one of the Santa visits!!!  Maybe next year!!!

Our family at the Layton City Party.  It was really cold that night!!!

Happy Windstorm Birthday to me...

The backyard tree that split and pulled the power lines down with it!!
The trunk of the front yard tree
Good thing it went towards the street and not into the house!!

Well as many of you know, last week we had a really bad windstorm that managed to kill the power and take down thousands of trees in this area of Utah.  We live in the little pocket of Davis County that was lucky enough to be without power for 5 days and then for us, since the back tree pulled down the power line, we had to wait until late that evening before it was back on in our home.  It was crazy!!  Of course it also happened to be my 31st birthday, so I teased that it was because Mother Nature thought I needed help blowing out all of those candles, but mostly it was just a pain.  The first night, we honestly thought the power would be back on way before then, we stayed at our apartment in the freezing cold.  We all slept in our bed and put lots of extra blankets on, but since our girls are use to their own beds, it was a horrible night for Brady and I and our girls!!  We tried so hard to keep warm, but when it's super cold outside and even colder inside, it just isn't fun!!  The second night, knowing we couldn't stay in our place again, we went to a hotel that was offering windstorm discounts.  Brady's parents, of course were without power as well, and they had the room next door to us.  We went swimming and made a fun little stay-cation out of it.  And the next day, my in-laws power came back on so they were nice enough to let us stay with them.  I was so glad to not be sleeping in the cold again!!  That was seriously not fun, but Brady and I did learn a few things from this little storm-We need to be better prepared!!!  We are planning to work on this right away!!  It is so nice to be home after having to be away, even though I do love getting away and going on vacations.  I think it was mostly because I was not prepared at all for this.  And when we were grabbing clothes Friday night, I managed to grab all kinds of off colors for shirts to go together.  Lucky for me I did grab the same shoes!!  We put all of our food into ice chest but most of it went bad, even putting more ice in when it was needed.  Our ice chest with all the frozen food was still frozen, but the food wasn't, which I thought was kind of odd.  And the other 2 ice chest, were way warm when we opened them up after getting home.  I know our apartment was super cold still and we put ice in them 3 times, so I'm guessing that they aren't the greatest of ice chest.  Good to know!!  Prepare! Prepare!!  Prepare!!  Is our motto this year!!  Hope all of you had minimal damage and that you enjoyed my birthday storm!!!

Live Nativity

You see that adorable little Angel up there in white and gold-that's my sweet Angel Jaylee!!  Our ward was asked to help with the Live Nativity that Kaysville does every year and they needed kids for different parts.  Well knowing my daughter, I still went ahead and signed her up to do this.  You see those of you that know our bug, know that sitting still and being reverent are not her strong points, let alone doing these 2 things at the same time and for 15 min. straight!!  Well let me just say, that besides the one twirl, the looking up at the ceiling for a couple minutes, waving to those fans of hers down in the audience and yes even that one moment of being caught with her finger in her nose, she really did an awesome job!!
While J was up on stage, Daddy and Kynna went and colored a picture!!  Jaylee did her beautiful picture after she was done.  It was a really cool display they had set up.  They had a ton of different Nativities from around the world, and then a kids area in the middle so they could color and do activities while parents looked around.

J is getting really good at staying in the lines!!  And she is suddenly obsessed with her initials!!
