Grandpa's Funeral

The whole reason we went to Utah was for the funeral of Grandpa Bouwhuis (Brady's Grandpa). When we got word that Grandpa had died, we knew we had to be there. And we are so glad that we were. Since Grandpa had served in the Army, it had been decided to do a military graveside service. It was a really neat experience!! They had the flag draped across his coffin, the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps along with the army theme song and the presenting of the flag. I did J-Bug's hair a new way for the funeral. It turned out cute but I know to do things a little different next time.
The servicemen who did the 21-gun salute
The Grandsons and Grandson-in-laws were the pallbearers. Brady was so upset since he decided against wearing his suit coat. He was the only one not in one. He was going to bring it with us but decided at the last moment that it would be a pain to travel with.

The man who played Taps and the Army theme song
Presenting the flag to Mike. Since Mike is the oldest, the flag was presented to him. It was really sweet!!

Once the men left, it was just the family at the graveside. Mike had taken a seat and J went over to him to give him hugs. She really can be sweet when she wants too!!
J kept teasing Nanny that she wasn't going to give her kisses
Hudson has grown up so much in the past year!! She is such a doll!!
Harper is so quiet and sweet!! Or at least she was at the funeral.
Harper and Tenley are buds!!
Harper and Jaylee were shoving rolls into their mouth in this picture. We were waiting to eat and they were all starving!!
Tenley takes the spotlight!!
The 3 cousins!! They are all getting so big!!

What cute pictures of all three of the girls. I need to get copies. Can't believe they were ever tiny little babies on the rug together!
